A plan for the two of you

Make the invitation clear. Keep the plan flexible.

A good date invitation answers the practical questions before they have to ask: what you have in mind, roughly when, where, and whether a different plan is welcome. The design can be playful while the invitation stays easy to understand.

How it works

  1. 01

Start with the time you both have

Choose a plan that fits an ordinary gap in the week. Coffee after work needs less coordination than a whole evening out. For an early date, a familiar public place and a clear starting time can keep the plan comfortable.

  2. 02

Give one idea and an alternative

Suggest a day and place, then leave space for another time. If a dinner, ticket or activity has a cost, discuss it before booking. An invitation should not arrive with a non-refundable obligation attached.

  3. 03

    Add one personal reason

A small reason is enough: a film you both mentioned, a café near a favourite walk, or an evening without errands. Keep jokes understandable and avoid making the person solve a puzzle to learn what you are asking.

  4. 04

    Check and share the invitation

Use an invitation template below, replace the names and date details, and try its reply choices in Preview. Send the private link yourself. Confirm the final plan together before making a reservation or buying tickets.

Four invitations you can adapt

Coffee: suggest a café and a short time window, with the option to stay longer. Sunset: choose an accessible meeting point and a rainy-day alternative. Movie night: agree on the film and whether you mean a cinema or a night in. Dinner: check timing, food preferences and budget before booking.

You do not have to make the invitation a surprise. “Would you enjoy a little date page, or shall we just make a plan here?” can be part of the conversation too.

Three ways to begin

These are fictional examples. Keep the shape, then replace every detail with your own.

Coffee after work
“Would you like to get coffee at the café near the station on Thursday around six? I have about an hour, and I would like to spend it hearing about your week. Another day works too.”
A sunset walk
“There is a walk by the lake I think you would like. Want to go Saturday before sunset? If the weather turns, we could get tea instead.”
A movie, chosen together
“A movie night this weekend? Send me two films you want to watch and I will bring the snacks. If you would rather head out, we can choose a cinema together.”

Keep this in mind

The best invitation leaves room for “yes, but another day” as well as “no.” A reply button is a convenience, not a reservation. Treat a suggested time as a conversation until you have both agreed.

Questions and answers

What details belong in a date invitation?
Include the idea, a proposed time, a meeting place and any useful practical detail. Leave room to change the plan. You can keep the longer personal note separate from the information they need to decide.
Can I offer more than one time?
Invitation templates include editable date details and reply choices. Use the options that fit your plan and confirm the final time directly with the recipient.
Should I buy tickets before asking?
Make sure the other person wants the plan and can attend before committing to a booking. A gift page should not make them feel responsible for money already spent.
Does the preview send an invitation?
No. Preview is for trying the experience. Sign in to save and create a private link, then choose how to send it yourself.
